True health lies in the strength of the internal organs
Internal organs correspond to the roots of a tree; therefore, healing internal organs is the most fundamental form of treatment.
Korean Traditional Acupuncture is different. The effect is strong and fast.
Diseased or weakened internal organs can cause pain and symptoms throughout the body even in the absence of physical injury.
In Oriental medicine, the human body is composed of numerous meridians, energy channels that are connected to the internal organs.
Korean Traditional Acupuncture focuses on fundamental treatment by healing dysfunctional internal organs using about 4 fine needles at important acupoints. This method is highly effective and provides immediate relief from pain and symptoms related to the affected internal organs, ultimately leading to recovery. It differs from Chinese acupuncture and dry needling, which typically involve the use of many needles.
Because it enables fundamental treatment, Korean Traditional Acupuncture is particularly effective for the following conditions:
• Chronic pain and symptoms such as low back pain, sciatica, shoulder pain, tennis elbow, knee pain, ankle sprain, heel pain, stress, panic disorder, bipolar disorder, infertility, hot flashes, uterine fibroids, menstrual pain, constipation, hemorrhoids, urinary incontinence and internal organ disorders.
• Pain and symptoms that cannot be effectively treated by Western medicine.
• Pain and symptoms that persist despite receiving multiple treatments at other clinics.

About Us

Korean Traditional Acupuncture, as the name implies, follows Korean traditional methods of treatment using acupuncture and herb medicine.
This Clinic was established by Kyonghwan Yang, L.Ac who has spent long time ardently studying Oriental Medicine and practicing acupuncture and herbal medicine in Korea as well as in the United States.
1. Fundamental Treatment Approach
Korean Traditional Acupuncture strictly adheres to the fundamental treatment principle that seeks to identify the root causes of pain and symptoms through internal organ diagnosis. This approach is based on the understanding that a great number of bodily symptoms and diseases can be caused by weakness or dysfunction of internal organs. Emotional shock and physical injury can also influence internal organs through the meridians, the bodily energy channels.
When the root organ is treated with acupuncture and herbal medicine, all the pain and symptoms related to that organ can be relieved and cured. For example, insomnia, flank pain, shoulder pain, migraine, excessive fear, palpitation, chest tightness can result from gall bladder deficiency. When the gall bladder is tonified with acupuncture or herbal medicine, these related symptoms can be alleviated and cured.
Similarly, stress, anxiety, dizziness, headache, fatigue and upper back pain may be closely related to the liver function. Therefore, simply inserting needles around the pain spots is not a fundamental treatment but rather a temporary or symptomatic treatment.
Kyonghwan Yang L.Ac has successfully treated many patients using this root-cause-oriented approach for many years. As a result, Korean Traditional Acupuncture can address diseases considered incurable and various pains and symptoms that Western medicine can’t clearly diagnose.
2. Sa-Am Acupuncture Technique
Korean Traditional Acupuncture follows Sa-Am acupuncture, a traditional Korean acupuncture technique that uses approximately 4 acupuncture needles at highly specific acupoints. This method maximizes therapeutic effectiveness while avoiding Chi(bodily energy) entanglement which may occur when too many needles are used. As described in many classical acupuncture texts, inserting excessive numbers of needles is not considered an optimal treatment approach.
During treatment, Kyonghwan Yang L.Ac focuses on locating exact acupoints and uses about 4 needles after careful diagnosis. When the diagnosis is accurate, immediate therapeutic effects follow needle insertion resulting in rapid relief on pain and symptoms.
3. Characteristics of Sa-Am acupuncture
1) It is a fundamental treatment that addresses internal organ imbalances through acupuncture following proper diagnosis.
2) Approximately 4 needles are typically used making the treatment simple and minimizing side effects such as nausea and dizziness.
3) Therapeutic effects are fast with symptoms and pain relieved shortly after needle insertion.
4) It applies the traditional principle of “left symptoms, right treatment” or “right symptoms left treatment.”
5) It employs tonifying and sedating techniques by rotating needles to maximize effectiveness.
4. Herbal medicine based on “Dong Eui Bo Gam”
Korean Traditional Acupuncture follows “Dong Eui Bo Gam”, a renowned classical Korean medical text in preparing herbal formulas.
Dong Eui Bo Gam contains extensive knowledge of traditional oriental medicine theory and a wide range of herbal prescriptions based on specific symptoms and diseases.
It is an invaluable resource for studying oriental medicine and identifying effective herbal formulars tailored to individual conditions.
